Categorising Title Sequences

Titles on a blank screen- This is a low budget, simple and uncomplicated title sequence which is commonly used, Examples include Pulp Fiction, Enter The Void and Psycho.

Titles on still images- Incorporates text with visuals, credits tend to last a longer duration and borders and images are generally used. An example includes the opening sequence to the film Wimbledon.

Titles over moving images- Displays credit titles, using moving imagery and sound which lay foundation to the setting and atmosphere of the film. An example includes the opening sequence to Alfred Hitchcock's, Rear Window.

Titles using animation or motion- A more common, modern opening sequence, titles move around the screen and multiple colours are used and exhibited. The concept is to set the mood and introduce the genre. An example film includes Catch Me If You Can.
