Title Sequence Analysis: Macro, Micro, Order Of The Title Credits

Guardians of the Galaxy: Order of the Title Credits
Genre: Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi

Micro Analysis- Titles over moving images are used in the opening of this film. CGI is used to develop the alien like atmosphere and various camera angles are used to explore the galactic surroundings. Low-key lighting is used allowing a smooth flow into the action scene that follows.

Macro Analysis- The key plot idea in the opening sequence is to convey the location and set the tone and feel of the film. The main character Peter Quill, played by Chris Pratt is introduced whilst music entitled 'Come and Get Your Love' by Redbone is playing. This is used to showcase a comedic element to the film.


Spring Breakers: Order of the Title Credits
Genre: Drama/Crime

Micro Analysis- Titles on a blank screen are used in the opening sequence of this film. The title credits shown on screen are very colourful and the use of bright lights are used to evoke the idea of a party, this links into genre conventions. Ellie Goulding's song Lights is used throughout the title credits duration to set the mood and tone. There was no mise en scene or various camera angles used in the opening sequence.

Macro Analysis- The title sequence is purely used to credit the production crew and cast. The addition of colourful lights and music however help to lay foundation to what follows in the film.

Skyfall: Order of the Title Credits
Genre: Action

Micro Analysis- Titles over moving images and Titles using animation/motion are used in the opening sequence of this film. The credits are displayed in a simplistic type with dark lighting and images in the background to connote the genre. The song Skyfall by Adele is playing over the duration of the title credits and helps set the tone and atmosphere of the film. Genre conventions are seen during this segment such as knives, guns and blood stains. Various camera angles are used as a form of storytelling such as close up eye shot and long shot angles.

Macro Analysis- The use of action sequences in the background of the opening credits convey the genre and sets the mood to the rest of the proceedings. The storyline is introduced as a continuing process from the previous films beforehand. The main character James Bond, played by Daniel Craig is introduced in multiple different scenarios that play out during the course of the film whilst the credits appear.
