After analysing a couple film sequences, the average film has the following

- Company
- Title credits
- Sound
- Location
- Intro to protagonist
Different movies show credits differently however the most common way is writing against a black still background alongside music or commentary which sets the atmosphere for the introduction and scene.
The purpose of a film opening is to engage the audience by creating a feeling of intrigue or suspense and gives an insight to what the film is going to be about . For example, a horror film may include flashing scenes of a murder alongside dramatic music, conveying a ominous tone. It also creates positive promotion for the actor, it allows the actor to form an association with the genre and draws in their particular audience. Not only this but it allows for the most important roles to be placed specifically to show importance, and recognition and sets the atmosphere of the film and we get to know the director and producers as they're listed. Alongside this, the institution is able to show itself which sometimes reveals the genre such as warner bros. for Harry Potter i.e fantasy, and also shows other companies who have produced the film. Certain actors being shown may also draw a certain fan base such as Seth Rogen may attract a audience expecting a comedy film, making the film more desirable.
