My favourite title sequence was Selin, Morgan Ayse and Canberk – AS Tile sequence 2015-2016. The title sequence, personally caught my eye because the shots helped me create a picture of the film and made me interested to find out what happened
Reasons why I think that this title sequence is good are
firstly, the title sequence clearly sets the mood for the rest of the film
without giving too much away. They did this by not showing the antagonists’
face who appeared many times in the title sequence e.g. when he/she was stretching
the rope which was done in an aggressive manner, that being said it gave me a
negative representation of the character making me think he/she could
potentially be the killer; Or he/she tapped they’re fingers on the table, or
when he/she was writing in a note book full of notes and cutting a picture of
someone presumably the victim which made the title sequence attention-grabbing.
This title sequence would attract people who enjoy watching crime and mystery because from the title sequence you can tell that there will definitely be crime in the film: because of the dead body and also because of the props, when these props were put together: scissors, rope and take alongside the dead body, they looked a lot more than just arts and craft equipment. And you could also tell that there was an element of mystery because the audience is never shown the antagonists’ face, and I could personally tell that it was the antagonist because of the fact that he/she was the one handling the props (rope, tape and scissors) and he/she was presented as very aggressive and frustrated; as there were several shots in which he/she was tapping their fingers impatiently or in a frustrated way. Furthermore, the clip finished with he/she cutting out a picture of a male (the dead body was the body of a male) therefore indicating that this picture is potentially a picture of a victim.
In addition, many props were used in this title sequence but
the ones that caught my attention were the scissors, rope and tape which
created a sense of danger because throughout the title sequences clips of the
body of a dead young man were shot which suggests that these props were used to
kill him and that is where the sense of danger is created alongside a dead
body/someone injured however, this title sequence was especially effective
because there was police radio in the opening. Moreover, as these particular
props appear more frequently each time the pace quickening which creates an adrenalin
rush for the audience, this is done effectively other ways too such as the
background sound becoming more rapid for example the panting which suggests
running in this case. And lastly, the rope being stretched (by the antagonist)
becomes more rapid and more aggressive each time its shown.
